GLICO, as it has been the tradition over a decade now, has once again provided insurance and motivation packages to the Ghana Black Stars worth GHC 3,000,000. The Insurance package was accompanied by a cash amount of GHS 15,000 to assist the Black Stars prepare for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2017).
Presenting the package to the GFA, the Head of Corporate Affairs & Marketing of GLICO GROUP, Nana Efua Rockson said that the general insurance package will cater for the 23 man squad together with the technical team of the black stars.
GLICO GROUP also promised the Black Stars a cash prize of GHC 2,000 should they qualify to the quarter finals, an amount of GHC 3,000 should they make it to the semi-finals and an amount of GHC 5,000.00 when they make it to the finals.
Additionally, GLICO GROUP used the opportunity to present a personal insurance cover worth GHC 200,000 to the GFA President Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi Following his election onto the Executive Council of FIFA and his appointment last year 2015 to the University of Ghana Sports Advisory Board. The Personal insurance cover is made up of a GHC 100,000 Personal Accident and a GHC 100,000 Critical Illness Plan.
Nana Efua stated that the fast paced world in which we live in today has resulted in an increase of critical illnesses such as coronary heart diseases, kidney failures, Heart Attack, Liver Failure, Stroke ,Cancers, Paralysis, among others. Because no one knows tomorrow and what it beholds irrespective of how adept the planning is, GLICO believes one needs to safeguard his life, hence the offer of the Critical Illness Plan to Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi.
Accepting the packages on his personal behalf and also for the Black Stars, Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi was full of praise and commendation for GLICO for their unflinching support over the years to the National team. He urged all Ghanaians to support the business of GLICO so that they can support more in the area of sports and their set social responsibilities.
The President of the GFA further affirmed that the package will spur the Stars on the play their hearts out and bring the cup home to Ghana. He appealed to corporate Ghana to emulate the selfless example set by GLICO to the GFA to develop our National football.
Remarkably, GLICO has sponsored the national teams with insurance and other packages to motivate them during tournaments since the1990’s. GLICO believes sports fosters a sense of belonging and unity, necessary elements for a stable business environment in Ghana.
