Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei is the Founder and Executive Chairman of GLICO Group., which is made up of GLICO Life Insurance Company, GLICO General Insurance Company, GLICO Healthcare, GLICO Pensions, GLICO Capital, GLICO Properties among others.
Upon completing his secondary school education at Kumasi Academy (Kumaca), Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei proceeded to the United Kingdom where he also successfully obtained certificates and degrees from Waltham Forest Technical College, Hammersmith and West London College, City of London Polytechnic, Polytechnic of the South Bank, London etc. He also became an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK (ACII).
Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei returned to Ghana to pursue his dream of establishing a life insurance company with a vision of bringing life insurance to the doorsteps of every Ghanaian household after having worked with American Life in the UK and steadily risen to become a prominent manager of the company.
Notwithstanding all the socio-economic challenges that characterized the 1980s, with tenacity and a flaming desire to realize his dreams, he founded Gemini Life Insurance Company (now GLICO LIFE) in 1986 and summoning all his knowledge, skills and experience, he exhibited remarkable business acumen to grow and develop GLICO to become a leading privately owned life insurance company and a household name in Ghana.
With his avowed determination to always dream big and go for his goals, Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei has grown and expanded the award winning GLICO LIFE and also established several other high profile companies providing employment for hundreds of Ghanaians and contributing to the development of the nation.
Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei serves on several Boards and his remarkable achievements have been recognized both locally and internationally with a number of awards. For instance, he was adjudged the Marketing Man of the Year by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).
Mr. Kwame Achampong-Kyei continues to pursue his entrepreneurial passion with verve and also inspire young people to exploit their God given talents and realize their dreams. He is married with four children.
Mr. Forkuo Kyei is the Group Chief Executive officer GLICO Group Ltd and a chartered Insurer with over thirty years’ experience. Prior to his appointment as the Group CEO, he was the Managing Director of GLICO Life Insurance Company, the life insurance subsidiary of the Group for approximately ten years.
Having joined GLICO in 1992, he has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of the organization. He was instrumental in the establishment of most of the subsidiary companies under the Group and plays a key role in the growth of these companies.
Apart from being a Chartered Insurer and an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) he also holds MSc in Insurance & Risk Management from Cass Business School City University (UK) and MBA in Finance & Advance Strategic Management from the Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University (UK). Mr. Forkuo Kyei is a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where he graduated with a BSc Development Planning degree.
Mr. Kyei is a practicing Christian. He serves on several company boards as well as boards of institutions and organizations including Liberty Centre Assemblies of God Church and the Assemblies of God University College.
Victor has a wealth of experience in Accountancy, Auditing, IT Auditing, Taxation, IT Systems implementation and Support, Business Process Re-engineering spanning over twenty five years in very responsible positions.
He has under his belt immense experience garnered from working at Deloitte & Touche (D&T). He started his career at Deloitte as an IT Consultant in 1991 and was involved in software development, IT systems support and implementation.
Victor resigned from D&T and took up appointment with Tara Systems as Systems Analyst from May 1994 to April 1995.
From May 1995 to September 1998 he was the IT Manager at Glico Life Insurance Company Ltd (GLICO LIFE) where he managed the company’s IT Systems as well as in-house software development. He left for the UK in 1998 to pursue accountancy (ACCA) and MBA. While in the UK, he worked with Kojo & Co, a registered auditing firm as a Trainee Accountant for two years.
He returned to Ghana in 2003 to work with D&T as a Senior Auditor. As a Senior Auditor at Deloitte, he was responsible for the statutory audits and IT audit for medium and large sized organizations. In 2005, Victor joined the erstwhile Trust Bank as an Audit Officer. Within the span of two years, he rose to become the Chief Auditor of the bank.
In 2009, Victor re-joined GLICO LIFE as a General Manager in charge of Finance and Administration.
After ten years of dedicated service as the General Manager/CFO of GLICO LIFE, he was elevated to the position of Group CFO and Executive Director of GLICO Group Ltd.
Mr. Stephen Badu has over sixteen years experience in insurance and occupational pension schemes management. Before being elevated to his present position, he was the Chief Business Development Officer (Group Business) of GLICO Life Insurance Company (GLICO LIFE).
Having joined GLICO as a Management Trainee, he has, over the years, played major roles in the growth of the company. He was appointed the Underwriting Supervisor a couple of years after joining GLICO LIFE. The satisfactory performance of his duties as the Underwriting Supervisor resulted in the Company reposing more confidence in him and subsequently tasking him to manage the Group Business portfolio in addition to other supervisory roles.
He worked tirelessly with his team to grow the portfolio to become one of the major sources of premium income for GLICO LIFE.
He was recently elevated to the position of Executive Director (Business Development) at GLICO Group Ltd to bring his vast experience to bear on the growth of the various subsidiary companies of the Group.
Mr. Stephen Badu, who is also a lawyer by profession, holds a Bsc (Land Economy) from KNUST and MBA from GIMPA. He also possesses a Diploma and Advance Diploma certificates in Insurance. He also obtained his LL.B (First Class Hons.) from GIMPA and BL/QLC from the Ghana School of Law. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, International Bar Association and the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).
Mr. Stephen Badu has also participated in major courses and seminars both locally and internationally to add on to his wealth of knowledge.
